Alert Control and Message Preview have been added too

WhatsApp Messenger development on Windows Phone is a little bit behind in comparison with other platforms.

Even though some of the most important features, like voice calling, have already been implemented in Windows Phone, there are still lots of improvements that devs need to add in order to bring the app on par with Android and iOS versions.

The good news is developers are making progress, and with the beta program for Windows Phone, they get to test some of the features they want to bring into the stable version of WhatsApp.

Those who have been accepted into the beta receive more updates, but their WhatsApp app is more prone to bugs and issue than the one everyone can find and download via Windows Phone Store.

It's been less than a week since WhatsApp was updated with some minor fixes and improvements, and now it appears that the beta version has received an update of its own.

However, the beta version of WhatsApp has received more new features and enhancements, which we hope to see in the stable app as soon as possible.

Users will now get in-app notifications

As WPXbox reports, the latest update for WhatsApp beta for Windows Phone is all about notifications. The changes included in the latest version are meant to give users more control over notifications, so here is what you get.

First of all, Alert Control will allow users to turn off notifications completely, but you will still be able to see which messages haven't been read yet thanks to the counter for call and text.

Developers have also added in-app notifications, which is a new feature similar to Hike. It shows notifications from other chat threads when you are on a different chat thread.

Last but not least, WhatsApp developers have added Message Preview. With the new feature, users are informed that they have a new message with “Message from X” instead of “New WhatsApp Message,” when exiting the application.

These are just but the most important new features and improvements implemented in the latest version of WhatsApp Beta for Windows Phone, but we expect more to come in future updates.
