All beta features are now part of the stable build too

Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile users have received a new massive update for WhatsApp that brings important UI changes and customization options for conversation windows.

Basically, all the new features available in this stable version of WhatsApp for Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile were previously included in the beta build, so if you were part of the private beta program, there’s little to see in this update.

On the other hand, those who were still on the stable version of the app will receive UI and layout changes, with the conversation window improved with a new bar holding the attach and send message buttons. Furthermore, the call button has remained on the right side of the conversation window, while the contact profile picture has been moved to the left.

This is a welcome change given the fact that it’s quite easy to press the call button by mistake when actually wanting to tap a different button, so seeing it all alone in the right side of the screen is quite helpful.

New conversation wallpapers and document sharing

This new stable version of WhatsApp also enables users on Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile to share Office documents too. And in terms of customization, the update includes new wallpapers that can be configured as conversation backgrounds and group both solid colors and patterns.

The new version of WhatsApp is 2.16.52 and can be downloaded on both Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile, although it’s essentially an app developed for the old version of the platform. WhatsApp isn’t yet a universal app, but given the fact that the company has launched a desktop client that works on Windows 10 too, it’s probably just a matter of time until such a version is released.

In the meantime, all Windows phone users are recommended to head over to the store and get the new version on their devices too.
