Yet another Microsoft app lands on the iPhone

These days, Microsoft seems to be more interested in iOS than in its very own Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile, which obviously causes a certain level of frustration among its users, but the company continues to go in the same direction no matter what.

Today, the Redmond-based software giant has rolled out a new iOS app called “News Pro,” which does exactly what its name suggests: it delivers the latest news on your iPhone and iPad.

But as compared to Flipboard and Apple’s very own News app, the purpose of Microsoft’s new application is slightly different: it can provide articles based on your “work experience and interests.” Obviously, pretty much every app allows you to define your interests and read news tailored to your preferences, but Microsoft says that News Pro always delivers articles that you’ll find interesting.

News matching your work experience

“Find articles and topics you didn't know you needed. News Pro allows you to extend the scope of your daily news updates by suggesting new topics to search based off your current interests and by helping you discover websites where you can read articles that are interesting to you. You can also search for news related to any topic right in the app so you can always be fully informed,” the app description reads.

News Pro is a Microsoft Garage project, so it’s still in experimental phase, but this doesn’t change the fact that the software giant has only released it on iPhone and not on Windows 10 Mobile devices. Undoubtedly, this contributes to the avalanche of criticism that the company has received lately and that is coming from Windows users disappointed that iOS is getting so much attention.

For the moment, News Pro can only be downloaded from the US-based version of the App Store, but if you’re a long-time iPhone user, you probably know how to get around this and install the app even if you use a different localized version of the store.
