Waze developers have created a new routing feature

Waze has become an indispensable tool for drivers around the world, and one of the reasons for this is that they can get updated information on traffic conditions and road blocks. The application now seems to welcome another feature, more exactly, difficult intersections.

Only a few months ago, Waze was updated with a redesigned GUI and tools that minimize battery usage so that the app wouldn’t take up all resources from your phone. Waze developers added a button for pulling up the navigation menu and the user’s frequent and favorite destinations.

The change was quite welcomed, since it provided a fresh look to the application and made sure that drivers don’t drain their handset’s battery when using Waze.

Now, it seems that Waze has received yet another useful feature, one that helps drivers avoid difficult intersections. Waze has posted details about the feature on its blog, stating that it is a new routing tool, but it has first been launched in Los Angeles.

The feature allows users to bypass difficult intersections when possible so that they wouldn’t get stuck in traffic and waste their time. Then, it's worth mentioning that the new feature won’t affect routing and ETA, as it was designed to balance the latter and limit as many of the difficult intersections as possible.

You should know that the feature is enabled by default, and Waze will calculate the best possible route that bypasses a difficult intersection. However, the application will still include some difficult intersections when routing doesn’t provide enough alternatives. Waze stresses that the goal of this goodie was to reduce intersections, not eliminate them.

The feature is automatically enabled for users from LA, but it can be disabled easily. Waze has announced that it intends to bring it to New Orleans and possibly other cities in the future.
