As will too much alcohol or one too many cherry pits

If you woke up feeling just a wee macabre today, here's a cool video that might just suit your mood. The animation, the work of brainiacs over at AsapScience, introduces us to a few otherwise perfectly ordinary things that, under certain circumstances, can prove deadly.

For starters, it appears that it is possible to overdose on coffee. Drink about 70 cups and you'll ingest so much caffeine that, rather than feel utterly and completely energized, you'll probably die because of cardiac arrest.

Then there's cherry pits. They seem harmless but the fact of the matter is they contain a compound dubbed amygdalin that, in the body, is converted into cyanide, which happens to be poisonous. Cherry pits are not dangerous when swallowed whole, but don't ever chew on them.

Oddly enough, it appears that something as simple as being too tall can also be deadly. This is because, the taller a person is, the more the body has to work to deliver blood to all tissues. Every inch (2.5 centimeters) above 5 feet (1.5 meters) is believed to cut life expectancy by 1.3 years.

As for drugs, the video mentions marijuana, which apparently can kill if somebody eats 22 kilograms (nearly 50 pounds) or smokes 680 kilograms (1,500 pounds). Then again, given these figures, it's pretty obvious this talk is merely a hypothetical one.
