The iPhone X is finally here with a major overhaul of the iPhone, landing a decade after Steve Jobs took the wraps off the original model.

While the way the iPhone transformed the mobile world has been overly-discussed in the last few years, a YouTube video posted during the weekend provides an in-depth look at how the iPhone itself evolved over the years.

The iPhone design rundown analyzes how each iPhone model that came out in the last decade looked, showing that Apple has indeed been focused on making its flagship product a device that excelled in terms of design from the very beginning.

The gradual evolution of the form factor seems to make sense with every new generation, and the iPhone X itself is said to be the beginning of a completely new chapter that signals more improvements coming to a similar design.

iPhone X, the beginning of a new decade

It’s believed the next-year iPhone models would feature only subtle design improvements, but at the same time, Apple is also expected to bring some technology, like the Face ID facial recognition system, to the entire lineup of devices in an attempt to overhaul its whole device portfolio. The iPad could also get Face ID and go for a bezel-less design as well.

iPhones have gradually changed their design as Apple completed development of new features, and while the Home button was originally just an easy way to reach the home screen, it then turned into the main security feature with the introduction of Touch ID. The home button is completely gone on the iPhone X now that the focus is on facial recognition, so the design of the iPhone evolves together with the functionality that powers it.

The iPhone X, however, also boasts some controversial changes, such as the addition of the notch. This appears to be more of a love-it-or-hate-it feature, despite obviously playing a critical role for the phone and the Face ID system.
