Just the other day, the lifeless body of a sperm whale popped up in the waters off the coast of the southeastern Australian state of New South Wales.

Sharks in the area didn't take long to sniff it out and swam up to it looking quite delighted to have come across such an easy meal.

Diver Brett Vercoe happened to be around and managed to catch a few of these sharks on film. His video, available below, is now making the rounds.

The footage shows three great whites and two tiger sharks approaching the carcass and gulping down chunks of flesh and blubber.

Brett Vercoe estimates that the biggest of the great white sharks that came to feast on the dead whale measured some 4.5 meters (nearly 15 feet) in length.

As for the tiger sharks, the most impressive of the bunch measured around 4.2 meters (14 feet) from head to tail, Brett Vercoe says.

The day after this shark feast, the carcass washed up on a local beach in New South Wales and was buried. Apparently, it will take years for it to decompose.

“The next morning it washed up on Campbells Beach and was buried precariously close to the waters edge where it will take years to slowly decompose,” Brett Vercoe wrote in the video's description.
