The video was filmed in the Australian wilderness

You'd think that, being a bat, you wouldn't have to worry about getting eaten by a snake. Snakes qualify as creepy crawlers, bats have the magical and wondrous ability to spread their wings and fly, and therefore should be quite safe.

Not to turn your world topsy-turvy, but it seems that it sometimes happens that snakes catch and eat bats. One such incident happened in the Australian wilderness not too long ago and was caught on film by a couple from Queensland.

The two say that the python approached the unlucky bat and sunk its teeth into it as the creature was hanging from a tree. Having squeezed the life out of it, the reptile swallowed it whole. Apparently, it took the snake about 30 minutes to devour its meal.

“We were there filming about 20 centimeters away, the snake wasn't fazed at all. It was fascinating to watch it making its way over the bat's body, to the other wing tip,” Mille Stoevring said in a statement.

The woman and her partner add that, as far as they could tell, the python did have some trouble opening its mouth wide enough to eat the bat. However, it didn't give up and just went on eating until its prey vanished down its throat and into its stomach.
