Here's something we don't see often enough

Just days ago, the Northern Lights made an appearance over Norway. They turned the sky bright green, and cameraman Harald Albrigsten set out to catch them on film.

By the looks of it, he was looking forward to testing a new camera designed to film even in low-light conditions, and shooting the auroras gave him the perfect opportunity to do so.

What he didn't expect was to catch a glimpse of a truly mesmerizing scene: a pod of humpback whales swimming close to shore, their silhouettes illuminated by the colored sky.

Harald Albrigsten's footage of humpback whales swimming under the Northern Lights made it online just yesterday. Understandably, it's already been viewed thousands of times.

“I did not even know if everything was in focus. It was like a dream,” the Norwegian cameraman commented on his experience shooting this video in an interview.

Apparently, humpback whales are a common presence in the waters off the coast of Norway. Then, this time of the year is perfect for auroras to form in the sky above the country.

So, maybe the marine mammals are quite used to seeing such stunning light displays. It's just that, until Harald Albrigsten came along, they had never before been filmed frolicking under the aurora borealis.

“Wonderful, truly wonderful!” a viewer commented on the video. “That's so majestic! Thanks for sharing,” another added.
