The game has gorgeous visuals and solid writing, but still maintains a shroud of mystery

Brand new indie supergroup Campo Santo showed off its first project, Firewatch, at PAX Prima last week, and the studio has now streamed the PAX demo on Twitch, immortalizing it for would-be fire prevention and adventure fans to enjoy.

The first-person mystery title puts players in the shoes (or rather hiking boots) of Henry, a fire spotter recently stationed to his post, deep within a Wyoming forest. The livestream features designer Sean Vanaman taking control of Henry through a section early-on in the game.

The demo shows a bit of contrast when compared to the ominous trailer released by the indie dev. While the trailer was ominous and seemed to hint at some unholy (to say the least) going-ons, the gameplay demo is light and fun, exploring the colorful environment, without all the vague but tense mood of the teaser.

The Twitch vid offers around 20 minutes of gameplay, showing a much brighter side of the upcoming game and its beautiful, expansive vistas.

The writing seems to be very solid, reminiscent of Telltale Games' recent titles, managing to convey a very natural chemistry between Henry and Delilah, his supervisor.

Campo Santo is yet to provide a release window for Firewatch, aside from sometime next year.
