Video game developer NeocoreGames is announcing that it is working on a new title called Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr, which is designed in collaboration with Games Workshop and will allow gamers to explore a massive universe using a mix of action and role-playing game mechanics.

The team says that the world will be presented as a persistent sandbox, with gamers able to create a character that will have to explore the stars in order to uncover information and track down targets for one of the most secretive organizations in the Empire of Man.

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr will also give players the possibility to keep playing once the core narrative ends, with the protagonist continuing to grow in power as he explores new missions created by NeocoreGames.

Zoltan Pozsonyi, a producer working on the title, states, "There’s a reason we chose the world of Warhammer 40,000: it’s intense, brutal, visceral - a perfect material for an action RPG. Working with Games Workshop, we’re doing our best to bring a high-quality game to the community. We’re huge fans as well, so we care deeply about this game."

The developers are not saying what races will be included in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr and how complex the interactions with other characters will be.

Warhammer is used as inspiration for a variety of titles

NeocoreGames has worked on other titles, including The Adventures of Van Helsing and the King Arthur series, which offered interesting takes on traditional genres.

The company says that Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony at some point in 2016.

More info on the core features will be delivered before the end of the year.

Both the fantasy and the science fiction versions of the Warhammer are being used as a setting for some video games.

The Creative Assembly is at the moment working on a Total War title linked to the fantasy of Warhammer, which will get a first gameplay trailer soon.

There are also rumors that Relic will soon reveal that it is creating a new entry in the Dawn of War series.
