14 DAY TRIAL // As expected, Chinese company Vivo introduced its flagship smartphone, the Xplay 5 Elite, earlier today. Normally, the announcement would go unnoticed for the rest of the world since Vivo only sells its smartphones in China.
However, Xplay 5 Elite is worthy of a larger coverage since it's the first smartphone in the world to come with 6GB of RAM inside. Until now, no other handset maker achieved this milestone.
Another major selling point of the Xplay 5 Elite is the rather small price for a flagship smartphone. According to Vivo, the handset will go on pre-order on March 8 for just $655 outright. The Xplay 5 Elite is supposed to hit shelves on March 16.
Although it will only be available in China, you will definitely be able to order one from various retailers across the country that are willing to ship for free. Naturally, you will have to pay slightly more than the suggested retail price announced by Vivo.

Specs-wise, the Xplay 5 Elite is a beast. The smartphone comes equipped with a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit and 6GB of RAM.
On the inside, the flagship packs 128GB of storage, which is all you get since Xplay 5 Elite lacks microSD card slot for memory expansion.
At the back, the phone features a 16-megapixel photo snapper with Sony IMX298 sensor, phase detection autofocus, f/2.0 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. There's also a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front that features f/2.4 aperture.
Vivo Xplay 5 Elite boasts a 5.43-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) dual-curved edge display that features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 coating.
Connectivity-wise, it offers both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS with AGPS support. The Xplay 5 Elite packs an ES9028 DAC chip and TI OPA1612 amplifire.
The smartphone is powered by a decent 3,600 mAh battery that features a double charging chip with fast charging. The Xplay 5 Elite will ship with FunTouch 2.5.1 OS based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
