Chinese company Vivo is the proud owner of the world’s first smartphone to pack 6GB RAM, but that doesn’t mean it should stop launching other handsets as well.

If you can’t afford the company’s new flagship smartphone, the Vivo Xplay 5 Elite, then maybe its next device that goes by the name of Vivo V3 Max might fit your budget.

Vivo teased earlier this week two new mid-range Android smartphones, the V3 and V3 Max, but did not say when they would be launched on the market.

Today, Vivo V3 Max has been spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, which means it shouldn’t take too long for the smartphone to hit shelves.

Unlike the Vivo Xplay 5 Elite, the V3 Max is a mid-range handset that comes equipped with a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Also, the device sports a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, but there’s no mention of Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

No Marshmallow for Vivo V3 Max

Sadly, Vivo V3 Max will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, even though it meets the hardware requirements to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The listing at TENAA also confirms the handset measures 153.90 x 77.10 x 7.58mm and weighs 168g (battery included). Also, the V3 Max will be available in Golden color, but additional options might be available at launch as well.

Connectivity-wise, the V3 Max will offer 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, GPS with AGPS support and, perhaps, dual-SIM support.

We have yet to learn what battery will power the Vivo V3 Max, as well as details about the phone’s rear- and front-facing cameras.

Vivo is expected to hold a launch event on April 5, where we believe both V3 and V3 Max will be officially unveiled. Information about availability and pricing will probably be revealed at the launch event too.
