Ruarí Ødegaard has informed Softpedia today, May 13, 2016, about the availability of a new snapshot for the upcoming Vivaldi 1.2 web browser, supporting Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X platforms.

First of all, we would like to inform our readers about the availability of a new stable update for the Vivaldi 1.1 release, version 1.1.453.59, which patches several vulnerabilities discovered recently. Therefore, the latest stable version of the cross-platform web browser is now Vivaldi 1.1.453.59, so you are urged to update as soon as possible.

Vivaldi Snapshot 1.2.479.8 is also out today for early adopters who live on the bleeding edge and would like to test-drive the newest features, which will be implemented in the next major update of the web browser, Vivaldi 1.2. Moreover, it brings some attractive goodies, such as the rebase of Chromium 51, tab opening improvements, address field fixes, and more keyboard shortcuts.

"In today's snapshot we added some more default shortcuts (all tweakable of course); fixed tab opening to better follow the selected setting (and renamed the settings to be clearer); fixed a bunch of minor issues in the address field; fixed a number of small (but annoying) regressions; updated Chromium to 51," says Ruarí Ødegaard, Linux QA and Testing at Vivaldi.

Vivaldi 1.2 coming this summer

As mentioned before, Vivaldi 1.2 will be the next major update to the proprietary web browser aimed at users who want to migrate from other similar products based on the open-source Chromium project, such as Google Chrome or Opera, and it promises even more exciting features for power users, which will be revealed in time.

Until then, you can download Vivaldi Snapshot 1.2.479.8 right now for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems via our website and take it for a test drive. As usual, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, not suitable for production use. The full changelog has been attached below.
