Development of the Vivaldi 1.9 web browser kicked off at the end of this week with the release of the first snapshot, versioned 1.9.804.3, for all supported operating systems.

Vivaldi Snapshot 1.9.804.3 has over 40 changes, most of which are bug fixes for various regressions from the stable Vivaldi 1.8 series of the cross-platform web browser, but it also brings two new features, such as the ability to shuffle the order of installed extensions and change the folder where screen captures are stored.

"You asked for it and we did it. You can now drag extensions around to reshuffle their order," said Ruarí Ødegaard, Linux QA and testing at Vivaldi. "We also heard your call for the ability to change the directory where screen captures are stored. This is now configurable settings 'Wepages -> Capture -> Capture storage folder'."

The Vivaldi developer noted in the release announcement that you'd need to type the exact path to the new location where you want to store screen captures generated by the built-in screenshot feature, but they promise to make it more user-friendly in upcoming snapshots of the Vivaldi 1.9 web browser release.

History and Extensions improvements, more bug fixes

Vivaldi Snapshot 1.9.804.3 also comes with a bunch of improvements for the new History feature implemented in the Vivaldi 1.8 stable series, as well as to the built-in screenshot tool and extensions. The full changelog is attached below if you're curious to know what exactly has been changed in this development build.

In the meantime, you can download Vivaldi Snapshot 1.9.804.3 for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from our website if you want to get an early taste of the new features implemented so far for Vivaldi 1.9. However, please keep in mind that some known issues are still present.
