Vivaldi's Ruarí Ødegaard is informing Softpedia today about the availability of a new snapshot of the upcoming Vivaldi 1.7 web browser, due for release sometime next week.

Earlier this week, we reported that Vivaldi 1.7 was just around the corner and would let you share things more efficiently thanks to a new functionality added to the built-in screenshot tool that allows insertion of certain areas of a web page on the web browser's Notes feature. And now, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.7.735.29 is here to introduce a brand-new history panel.

"The new history panel provides convenient access to your browsing history, shown alongside the pages you are currently viewing. Thus it provides a new and much quicker way to locate a URL you visited before. The panel also includes search and date range options, to make it even easier to find that elusive URL," said Ruarí Ødegaard, Linux QA and Testing at Vivaldi.

Vivaldi now warns about sending passwords over non-secure connections

Following on the footsteps of the latest Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox web browser, Vivaldi 1.7 now implements a warning in the address bar that will notify users if they are about to send a password over a non-secure (encrypted) connection. The text "Not Secure" will appear for each website that attempts to request your password.

Today's Vivaldi Snapshot 1.7.735.29 also makes the setting for top level domain completion via the Ctrl+Enter keyboard shortcut clearer, addresses a few regressions from Vivaldi 1.6 series, and updates the Linux signing key. The full changelog is attached below for all the technical details about the new changes.

We invite our readers to download the Vivaldi Snapshot 1.7.735.29 binary packages for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from our website, test it thoroughly and send feedback to the Vivaldi developer if some nasty issues are still present so they can fix them before Vivaldi 1.7 hits the streets next week.
