Softpedia was informed by Vivaldi's Ruarí Ødegaard about the availability of the first Release Candidate (RC) build of the upcoming Vivaldi 1.7 web browser, dubbed as Vivaldi Snapshot 1.7.735.36.

By our count, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.7.735.36 is the eighth release for the Vivaldi 1.7 development cycle. This is a small release that rebases the web browser on Chromium 56.0.2924.88, updates various language translations, fixes a handful of regressions from previous versions, and improves the new History panel.

For example, users will now be able to add mouse gestures and a keyboard shortcut for accessing the History panel more easily. A performance regression with the new History panel was fixed as well, along with the ability to change the displayed browsing history when the computer's date is also changed.

Final Vivaldi 1.7 release is coming next week

As for the regressions patched in Vivaldi Snapshot 1.7.735.36, we can notice a crash on Linux and Windows systems that occurred when using the drop-down list in the options of the ImprovedTube extension, as well as the ability to change the search engine in the search field when using the Japanese language.

It also makes it possible for users to be able to scroll the extensions pop-ups even if the content exceeds the screen size. Vivaldi Snapshot 1.7.735.36 is now available for download for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems, if you want to get an early taste of what's coming next when the final Vivaldi 1.7 release launches.

As usual, we'll be the first to announce the availability of the new Vivaldi release, so make sure that you keep an eye on our news section if you want to be among the first to update to Vivaldi 1.7.
