There's also improved proprietary media support on Linux

The Vivaldi team released a few minutes ago version 1.3, which comes with support for customizable browser UI skins, privacy controls for WebRTC IP leaks, more customizable mouse gestures, and improved proprietary media support on Linux.

If you have been reading Softpedia, none of these features is "news" to you, since we've covered all in previous articles when they were first added to Vivaldi's snapshot releases.

Anti-WebRTC IP leak protection

Our favorite feature is the improved privacy protection Vivaldi users get when using WebRTC-based services.

WebRTC is a fantastically useful protocol that has made it easier for Web developers to support services that rely on real-time communications. Unfortunately, this protocol suffers from some problems and allows an attacker to leak a user's real IP address.

Vivaldi 1.3 provides an option in its Settings -> Privacy section that lets users turn on a feature that protects against IP leaks, but also sacrifices WebRTC performance. This feature is off by default, and users who have no problem sharing their IP address can leave it as it is.

Users can now control how Vivaldi looks

The most eye-catching feature is no doubt the browser's new UI theme builder that users can find at Settings -> Themes.

Vivaldi 1.3 will now let users select a theme, and if they don't like some of the default colors, click the Edit icon and start customizing them to their liking.

There's a color picker offered, and users can control more than colors, including tab transparency and tab corner rounding.

Other changes...

Besides these, Vivaldi also comes with more actions that users can bind to mouse gestures. Almost every major release the Vivaldi team has added more actions that can be bound to mouse gestures. They did so in version 1.2 as well, and it's nice to see they're still expanding this feature.

Furthermore, there's also better support for proprietary multimedia drivers on Linux, which my colleague Marius Nestor detailed a month ago.

Vivaldi 1.3 was released this morning and is already available for download. You can upgrade existing Vivaldi installations via the built-in updater, or you can download a fresh copy from Softpedia, for Linux, Mac, and Windows.
