Maria Popova of Vivaldi Technologies is today reporting on the progress made on the upcoming Vivaldi 1.11 web browser, after their annual meet-up in Magnolia.

First off, we'd like to remind the reader that Vivaldi Technologies is finally working on sync functionality for their Chromium-based web browser, which will be implemented in a future release to allow users to sync passwords, settings, bookmarks, tabs, and other information across multiple computers where Vivaldi is installed.

Based on Chromium 59.0.3071.112, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.11.890.4 is the third in the development cycle of Vivaldi 1.11, and besides fixing various regressions and other issues that users reported since the last snapshot, it adds a new option that lets users hide the actions on the Speed Dial thumbnails that appear when hovering over them with the mouse cursor, as they can be easily deleted.

"In Vivaldi 1.10 we added the ability to use custom thumbnails for Speed Dials on your start page. One issue with this is that people will click the reload / "update thumbnail" button and mistakenly clear their carefully crafted thumbnail. Same goes for the little "x" to delete a Speed Dial; quite annoying to click by mistake," explains Maria Popova, QA Engineer at Vivaldi.

32-bit Linux builds make a comeback

If you want those pesky little actions to be gone from your Speed Dial's thumbnails, we recommend going into Settings -> Start Page -> Speed Dial and adjust the settings. Another cool thing that today's Vivaldi 1.11 snapshot brings is the 32-bit Linux builds, which disappeared a while ago and nobody knew why. They're now back, and you can download them for your GNU/Linux distro below.

The entire changelog of the Vivaldi Snapshot 1.11.890.4 development release is attached below if you're curious to know what exactly was changed in this update, and don't hesistate to download the binaries for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from our website if you want to take it for a spin, but keep in mind that it's a pre-release version so don't use it for production work.
