It's been only a few days since Vivaldi 1.10 hit the web, but it looks like the development team behind the Chromium-based web browser has no time to rest, and today they've announced that Vivaldi 1.11 is open for development.

Development of Vivaldi 1.11 kicks off today with the first snapshot, versioned 1.11.880.3, which is available for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, macOS and Windows, and brings with it an exciting new feature for those who use the Reader Mode, a configuration panel that lets them tweak it to their liking.

"This panel will allow you to fine tune things like font type and size, line height and switching from light/dark themes while using Reader Mode. To access the new settings, enter Reader Mode then click the reader icon in the Panel (found at the bottom of the column just above the Settings icon)," explains Maria Popova.

We took a quick look at the new panel, at it would appear that it lets us select the font type and size of the text, set the column width and line height, as well as the style of the Reader Mode, from three options: light, dark, and theme. The "theme" option appears to use the current Vivaldi theme you have set.

Developer Tools and Speed Dial improvements, other bug fixes

Apart from the new configuration panel for the Reader Mode, today's Vivaldi 1.11 snapshot also improves the Developer Tools to work for internal pages and be able to restore the title of the undocked devtools due to external tools, fixes a regression with right click on the Bookmarks Panel, and adds "Show|Hide" options to View menu items on macOS.

A thumbnail issue with the Speed Dials was resolved as well, along with several other minor bugs that were discovered since last week's release of Vivaldi 1.10. Those interesting in testing Vivaldi 1.11 can download Vivaldi Snapshot 1.11.880.3 right now for GNU/Linux, macOS and Microsoft Windows operating systems. Vivaldi 1.11 is based on Chromium 59.0.3071.104.

We don't encourage users to install a pre-release version of a software, but if you know what you're doing and you're aware of the known issues, go ahead and install Vivaldi Snapshot 1.11.880.3 and test the new configuration panel of the Reader Mode, and do let the Vivaldi development team know what you think of it.
