Chris Mitchell becomes a star, thanks to his magical powers

Some BBC reporters could easily get jobs as comedians, based on the kind of hilarity they prompt online. In 2013, BBC News anchor Simon McCoy stepped in front of a camera holding a pack of printer paper as if it was an iPad / tablet, and it seems that we now have a suitable replacement.

His name is Chris Mitchell and he works for BBC Sports. Unlike McCoy, whose hilarious faux-pas you can see in the second video embedded at the end of this blog post, Mitchell doesn’t need any kind of substitute for an iPad, because he can always rely on his magical powers.

You know that segment at the end of a show or news broadcast, when the credits roll but the visuals don’t cut off and we get to see the hosts for a few more seconds, either chatting with each other (with the sound off) or writing down stuff on their notes, or playing on their tablets.

With Chris, BBC Sports could not spare a sheet of paper or an actual tablet, so when that moment came, he seemed at a loss as to what he should do for the next few seconds, during which time he knew the camera was on him.

So he just lifted the palm of his hand and started tapping on it as if he was really holding a device there. No word yet on what application he was using during this display of magical powers, but whatever it was, it brought him Internet fame.

Mitchell is showing the world he’s a good sport by joking on Twitter that he was using technology from the future, to which us mortals don’t have access yet. It’s either that, or his magic is really that good.

Check out the hilarious moment now.
