Aussie digital animator Darren Wallace creates new monster

Some fans may have experienced a slight disappointment with “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the latest release from Marvel, but even they will concede that the film’s first trailer was perfectly edited and put together, an accomplishment in and of itself.

You can see it in the second video below, assuming you haven’t already. As trailers go, it’s a great one: the pacing is perfect, the editing stands out and the story it teases promises a lot. Depending on who you ask, chances are you will hear that the trailer was far better than the completed movie.

The first video embedded at the end of this post is the creation of Australian digital animator Darren Wallace, who managed to create his very own brand of monster threatening humanity at large flick, by mashing together footage from “Avengers” and the classic “Wizard of Oz” movie.

I know, the idea seems preposterous, but it actually works. The result is what Wallace calls “Avengers of Oz: Age of Tin Man,” a faux trailer for a faux movie that would probably make as much money as the real “Avengers” did.

Proof of that is in the fact that it topped 1 million views in just 2 days since it was uploaded. Again, the idea of putting Dorothy and the gang in the same context as the Avengers team and the very dangerous Ultron seems out of place, but see for yourself if it’s not a very inspired one.

Enjoy!
