The stainless steel frame makes the iPhone X super tough

Apple worked very hard to turn the bendgate into a thing of the past and the company invested in tougher materials to make new iPhone models more durable, and it all seems to be paying off according to a test video involving the iPhone X.

The new anniversary iPhone comes with a body made of glass, which Apple says is the most durable on a smartphone ever, but also with a stainless steel that’s supposed not only to give it a pretty exquisite look, but at the same time to add some extra points in terms of strength.

YouTube channel EverythingApplePro has posted a new video to determine just how tough the new iPhone X actually is thanks to this mix of a glass body and stainless steel frame, and by the looks of things, it’s one of the most durable models on the market. But this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s flawless.

The iPhone X survives the typical bending test

As you can see for yourselves by hitting the play button below, the iPhone X can resist the majority of common scratches on both the glass body and the camera. Obviously, you should still avoid carrying your iPhone X in a pocket with your car keys, but if this happens by accident, the physical damage the device receives is not by any means critical.

As far as bending goes, the test shows that’s nearly impossible to bend the iPhone X, though the top and bottom parts do seem to come off quite easily. EverythingApplePro says there are some plastic parts between the stainless steel frame and the glass covers, and these appear to be pushing out the display whenever strong pressure is being applied on the edges.

While this could be worrying at first glance, there’s little chance you’ll be applying so much pressure for a screen-popping effect, but this is certainly one of the things Apple should be looking into especially because it could cause more damage in the long term.
