This luxury phone will cost you a real fortune

For the rich and powerful of the world, who would look at a fancy Samsung Galaxy Note5 like it were a cheap device, there are companies like Vertu that produce ridiculously expensive smartphones using extremely high-quality materials.

The thing is no matter how luxury these phones are on the outside, on the inside their hardware specifications actually fail to impress. Most of Vertu’s phones can be considered mid-range offerings at best, with sleek alligator skin backs and sapphire crystal displays.

However, Vertu wants to redeem itself as far as this aspect is concerned, so its latest Signature Touch smartphone finally brings to the table more capable specifications. The phone is suggestively called New Signature Touch and arrives with a 5.2-inch display covered by sapphire crystal that supports 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). Maybe a QHD display would have made the Vertu phone more worthy of its name, but nevertheless, FHD is nothing to complain about, really.

Vertu goes high-end all the way

The phone draws power from a Snapdragon 810 processor, which albeit being quite controversial due to its tendency to overheat, it’s still a very powerful SoC powering flagships like the Sony Xperia Z5, HTC One M9 or OnePlus 2 (and soon the Nexus 6P made by Huawei). Vertu also throws in 4GB of RAM to help with the processor’s efforts. The New Signature Touch ships out with 64GB of built-in memory, and if that’s not enough for you, there’s a microSD card slot to help you expand it up to 2TB.

Moving along, the luxury device features a 21MP main camera with 4K video capture, but only a 2.1MP front-facing unit for selfie taking and video conferences. Other specifications include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and 4G LTE.

The phone rests on a 3,160 mAh battery and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, so as you can see, it’s pretty much on par with today’s flagship devices. Except for its luxury finish.

The high-end product will launch in a range of four colors, across eight product executions including Jet Calf, Garnet Calf, Grape Lizard, Pure Jet Lizard, Jet Alligator, Pure Navy Alligator, Clous de Paris Alligator, and Pure Jet Red Gold. Each with the possibility to add a personalized engraving.

Vertu's New Signature Touch will be made available in stores globally from October 16 onward. Pricing is yet to be announced.
