LG is one of the main smartphone manufacturers in the world, but it's still far from being a worthy competitor to giants like Samsung or Apple. LG is rumored to be working on a successor to LG V10, with the new handset expected to be unveiled in September.

A new Verizon-branded LG smartphone has recently shown up at the FCC, which means that the device might be unveiled in the US soon, according to Android Soul. Recent rumors said the new handset could be named the LG V11 or LG V20, but that remains to be seen.

US regulatory agency the FCC has recently certified an LG phone featuring the code number LG-VS835, and word is that it could be the LG V11 or LG V20. One thing is for sure: the device will be sold through Verizon, as the VS in the model number indicates.

The LG-VS835 was spotted in a database back in April, and recent rumors have hinted that the smartphone will launch in about two months' time. The FCC documentation doesn't reveal any specs, but the device is expected to be an improvement over the previous LG V10.

LG V10 had a secondary display at the top

The V10 came with a 5.7-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and a second display with 160 x 1040p resolution. The smartphone packed Snapdragon 808, coupled with Adreno 418 GPU, and provided 4GB of RAM, together with 64GB of internal storage. Rear camera capacity reached 16MP. It's also worth knowing that LG V10's second display revealed useful information like the time, weather, date, and notifications.

The V10 was launched last year in October, but it seems that LG might be releasing its successor one month earlier. The smartphone will compete against powerful flagships that are expected to be introduced in the next few weeks.

Aside from this, LG is also rumored to have started working on foldable smartphones with flexible displays that it wishes to debut next year. If that happens, then the company will compete against Samsung's flexible handsets that could debut in the first half of 2017.
