Valve has released a new Steam Client stable update for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows, bringing lots of improvements and many bugfixes.

The August 16 Steam Client update is a major one, and among the new features and enhancements implemented, we can mention the ability to handle clickable URLs in the chat windows for the desktop Steam Client running on GNU/Linux distros, and better compatibility with the soon-to-be-released macOS 10.12 Sierra operating system.

"A new Steam client has been released and is being automatically downloaded. The Steam application has been reworked for better compatibility with macOS Sierra. This may result in an older copy of the Steam application being placed in your Trash. It is safe to delete the older copy by emptying the trash," reads the announcement.

Other noteworthy changes include the addition of a button for clearing the local download cache, which should improve the overall download experience, improved support for Xbox One controllers, support for showing if a certain game was excluded from Family Sharing, and support for spectating VR games when using Steam Link.

Steam Controller improvements and fixes

As the headline suggests, the latest Steam Client stable update is all about Steam Controller enhancements. There are lots of them, and among the biggest ones, we can mention a new "Set Cursor Position" binding controller action, new Gyro Button Behavior setting, and new RB/LB buttons for changing the current action set.

We recommend that you take a look at the changelog attached below if you want to see what exactly has been changed and which bugs have been fixed, as well as how the Steam Controller has been improved in this update, which will be automatically downloaded and installed the next time you start/restart your Steam Client.
