As many Android smartphone users would say, better late than never. This is probably what Samsung Galaxy S4 at US Cellular are probably thinking, knowing that their carrier has just kicked off the rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

It's been quite a long wait for Samsung Galaxy S4 owners, but the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop update has finally arrived on their smartphones.

According to US Cellular, those who wish to upgrade their smartphones right away can do so beginning this week through Samsung Kies desktop software.

The update is also available as an OTA (over the air), but make sure that your phone's battery is at least 50% charged and that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

If you haven't been notified on the update, you can manually check for it via Settings / About Device / Software Update / select OK and follow the on-screen prompts.

Material Design, improved notifications, more security options

Keep in mind that Android 5.0 Lollipop might not be available right away for all Samsung Galaxy S4 units at US Cellular since the update is pushed in waves.

If you are one of the lucky Galaxy S4 owners that have been notified on the update, then here is what you will get along with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

First of all, the update brings the new Material Design that gives the OS a new look and feel. With Material Design, you will be able to experience more fluid animations along with enhanced apps and customization options like themes, colors and widgets.

Also, Android 5.0 Lollipop adds more ways to secure your Samsung Galaxy S4. For example, you will be able to share your smartphone securely thanks to the newly introduced guest user mode.

You can also create multiple user accounts to enable friends to log in on your Galaxy S4. Last but not least, the Android Smart Lock enables users to secure their smartphones by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or even a car.
