Sony is expected to host a press event on August 3 during which we expect to see the Japanese company unveil the Xperia C5 Ultra model. The phone leaked online before revealing its face and specifications and has been known so far as Sony Lavender.

Anyway, the Russian website [email protected] has posted a series of images comparing the Xperia C5 Ultra model with another unannounced handset, the Xperia M5, which should also see the light of day during the August 3 event.

Apparently, the Xperia M5 is a smaller version of the Xperia C5 Ultra which sort of resembles the Xperia Z3+ visually.

As for the larger model, we know the phone should make a debut into the wild with a 6-inch display with 1080p resolution and lives off an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor clocked at 1.7GHz.

The phone is actually meant to be a selfie phone, so with this in mind, the handset features 13MP cameras both in front and on the back, both with LED flashes. Other specifications include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable memory, and a 2,930 mAh battery.

As you can see in the images, the phone has extremely thin bezels (0.8mm) on the left and right sides. It should make it out into retail with a price tag of approximately $350 / €318.

The Xperia M5 bundles quite high-end features

As for the Xperia M5, we’re told the handset is due to arrive with a 5-inch display with 1080p resolution. It will be water-resistant certified (IP68 certification) and will draw life from an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor clocked at 2.0GHz.

The phone is poised to bundle 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable memory. It will also be the beneficiary of a 2,600 mAh battery and 13MP front-facing camera.

But unlike the Xperia C5 Ultra, the Xperia M5 features a more powerful 21MP main camera which features Sony’s IMX230 sensor, 5x digital zoom, fast auto focus (0.2 seconds) and 4K video recording. Sony recently teased a handset capable of taking “split-second photos” so this might be it. The handset is expected to cost around $400 / €363.

Both unannounced models have black and white coloring options and we’re going to see them make an appearance soon enough.
