Google has apparently decided to rebrand upcoming Nexus Sailfish and Nexus Marlin phones into Pixel and Pixel XL. This could possibly mean that the line of Nexus smartphones could very well be dead, but an official statement has yet to be made.

Google's Pixel XL leaked in a live image a few days ago, but the picture was quite blurry and didn't give out a clear view of the smartphone. Reddit user bndki took the live image and created a render of the smartphone's front based on it.

The unofficial render does offer a clear view of the smartphone's display, showing the front camera and the rounded corners of the device. The image doesn't really reveal much in terms of functionality, but fans can get an idea of what the smartphone will look like.

Pixel is expected to have the same design as the Pixel XL, but the phones will differ in terms of display size and resolution, as well as other aspects.

Pixel smartphones could run Snapdragon 821 SoC

Google's Pixel XL is expected to come with the G logo on the back and a display size of about 5.5 inches with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. It should also run Snapdragon 821 SoC, making the two Pixel phones the first devices in the US to come with the latest processor from Qualcomm.

In addition, Pixel could have 4GB of RAM and a very powerful 12MP camera on the back, with 8MP in the front. Internal capacity is said to reach 32GB and the phone could come with a 2,770mAh battery. The display size for Pixel could reach 5.2-5.3 inches with Full HD resolution.

The two phones could be made available with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, said to come with the Pixel Launcher and Google Assistant. Google is expected to host an event on October 4, during which it could actually announce the two phones.
