Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is one of the most widely awaited video game launches of the year, and it seems that the team at Naughty Dog working on the experience is aiming to make the multiplayer mode a major part of the title, with plans to launch extra content for it all through the year after launch.

Roger Cogburn, the leader designer, working on this part of the video game, has been offering some hints on his Twitter account, saying that the team he leads has been test-playing the biggest of the featured maps and thinking about what can be improved.

His message also hints at the fact that major new elements might be added to the multiplayer of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End over time, probably in response to the requests that the fan base will make.

According to Naughty Dog, they want the Player versus Player side of their adventure game to be easy to get into, featuring a lot of the characters and the relics that are also part of the single player, while also offering depth for those who have been following it since the first installment.

A beta for the multiplayer of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End ran in 2015, and the studio says that it has gathered a lot of extra data that can be used to improve gameplay, listing some tweaks that have already been made.

Because of the high number of characters interacting with the environment and each other at the same time, Naughty Dog is limiting the resolution to 900p, running at 60 frames per second.

The studio has said that it has plans to deliver a lot of free content for multiplayer after launch as well as balancing patches.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End also has more narrative reveals to deliver

Multiplayer might become an important part of the future of the final Nathan Drake adventure, but the initial focus will be on the story and the way it will offer an epilog for the familiar characters.

Naughty Dog has said that it is aiming for more emotion than in previous installments and more impressive action sequences, with the cutscenes enhanced by the use of a new dialogue system.

The center of the narrative will be on the encounter between Nathan Drake and his long lost brother Sam and on their quest to find the colony of Libertalia and the treasure buried within.

So far the developers have only shown fans one of the major set pieces from the game, which is bigger than in previous installments and gives them more freedom when it comes to both exploration and combat.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be offered only on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and will be delivered on April 26 in the United States and one day later in Europe.

Naughty Dog has already said that it will deliver a Season Pass linked to the game, allowing players to experience some new single-player content, mainly because of the success of similar efforts for The Last of Us.
