At times, hints that smartphone manufacturers are working on new devices come when said devices get certified either at the FCC or Bluetooth SIG, or even in benchmarking tests, which usually happen earlier. This seems to be the case with an unidentified Lenovo handset that has recently received Bluetooth certification.

It seems that Lenovo is working on an upcoming smartphone, codenamed P2a42. The device was recently certified by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), but it seems there aren't any hints on the smartphones name, only its code number P2a42.

The listing reveals some specs of the upcoming device, namely that it runs Snapdragon 625 SoC and comes with a 5.5-inch display. Rear camera capacity on the device could be 13MP with a 5MP camera on the front.

Reports have shown that the smartphone was also spotted on Postel, which is the Indonesian equivalent of the FCC. This would mean that Lenovo intends to launch the upcoming phone in Asian markets and it's quite unknown if the company will make it available in other countries as well.

Lenovo P2a42 could be a variant of Vibe P2

The name of the smartphone is unknown at this point, nor is the line in which it belongs. Some say that the device could be a variant of the upcoming Lenovo Vibe P2, but that has yet to be determined. The Vibe P2 recently leaked in images with some specs being also detailed.

The Vibe P2 seems to come with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 1080p resolution. Aside from this, it could have a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button and a 5,000mAh battery. The smartphone could also be 8.5mm thin and come with Snapdragon 625 SoC, as well as 4GB of RAM.

The Vibe P2 could also come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. There's no information on when Lenovo will actually release the Vibe P2 and the fact that the P2a42 is a variant of the Vibe P2 is just speculation at this point.
