It's expected to be cheaper than the Russian smartphone

When Russian company Yota Devices launched its dual-screen smartphone back in 2013, it was considered a revolutionary handset.

The YotaPhone sports a standard 4.3-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and a secondary 4.3-inch always-on grayscale touchscreen display with 360 x 640 pixel resolution.

The sequel to YotaPhone was launched on the market only several months ago, with slightly bigger screens and better hardware, but the price the Russian company put on its device did not turn it into a popular smartphone.

Chinese company UMi wants to change that with its own take on dual-screen smartphones. Since it's China we're talking about, low prices are to be expected, so we would only need to worry about quality.

UMi is the same company that launched back in September one of the thinnest smartphones available on the market. UMi Zero is only 6.4mm thin and comes with more than decent specs.

Hopefully, it will be available internationally

Now the company is back with yet another smartphone that should stand out from others in the same price range. The UMi Zero 2 has just been teased by the Chinese company for a September 1 release.

The smartphone is said to come with dual screens, just like the YotaPhone. It will pack a standard touchscreen display on one side and another e-ink screen on the other one.

We don't have any details on these displays, but we do know that the UMi Zero 2 will be equipped with an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor, 3GB RAM, and 16GB of internal memory.

Also, the smartphone will feature a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, as well as a no less impressive 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls. It will also support 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS with AGPS.

Unfortunately, there are no details on pricing options yet, but the word is that UMi Zero 2 will be much cheaper than YotaPhone 2, which is now selling in the US for $550 outright.
