While Microsoft is focusing on its new flagship smartphones, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, major retailers are trying to attract customers with the most affordable Windows 10 smartphone soon to be available on the market, the Lumia 550.

If there won't be any hardware issues with the phone, Lumia 550 could sell much better than Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.

Unfortunately, carriers and retailers won't gain too much of a profit from selling such cheap phones, but the Lumia 550 is meant to provide Microsoft with more Windows 10 Mobile market share.

The affordable smartphone is not yet available for purchase, but customers in the UK can already pre-order the Lumia 550 for £80 outright.

Carphone Warehouse offers the smartphone in black and white colors and promises to deliver pre-orders by December 8.

Aside from that, the UK retailer also made a preview of the Lumia 550, so that customers who have never used Windows 10 Mobile before know what they will get if they decide to purchase the smartphone.

The 2-minute video is also useful to those who still own a very cheap Windows Phone handset and plan to upgrade to the Lumia 550 next month.

“When you start using a budget smartphone, you expect to sacrifice certain things. One of those is speed - cheap phones have cheap processors so aren’t fast, unless you have the Lumia 550,” says Carphone Warehouse in a blog post.

The Lumia 550 comes equipped with a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, an Adreno 304 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

However, it's not just the CPU that makes it that fast. Windows 10 Mobile is another reason the Lumia 550 opens applications fast and doesn't lag at all when you scroll within the menus.
