Canonical's Bill Filler send it his regular report informing us all about the improvements and new features that have been implemented in the week that just passed for some of Ubuntu Touch's core apps.

According to Mr. Filler, the Ubuntu Touch developers managed to implement find in page functionality in the web browser, along with converged history and new tab views. They've also fixes a bug related to notify-osd when adjusting the volume, which killed the full-screen mode when watching video with the built-in web browser.

The Phone app received several improvements. For example, it will now always ring or wake up on incoming calls, displays all received messages in detail and makes all the emergency numbers available in the Emergency mode. Also, support for Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files has been added to the Gallery app.

Hotspot support finally landed in Ubuntu Touch's System Settings with an initial user interface and known bugs that will be fixed before the release of the major OTA-6 update. A screen dim bug has been addressed, and the SIM PIN page is now fully displayed when rotating the phone to horizontal mode.

Many new features are coming soon

Mr. Filler's report also mentions some of the features that are currently marked as work in progress, such as support for context menus, support for downloads within the app, visual feedback for the Bookmark Link action, and the implementation of a pop-up menu on tabs that lets users open new tabs to the right side of the current one in the web browser.

The team also works on Group Chat in the messaging framework, the Mouse and Touchpanel screen, as well as the Display and Brightness screen for convergence, support for handling over 1000 photos in the Gallery app, Contact sync improvements, sync integration and plugin support for TransferIndicator, as well as a patch for the wrong resolution issue of the photos taken with the Camera app.
