14 DAY TRIAL // On the day of October 7, Canonical's Łukasz Zemczak sent in his daily report to inform us all about the latest work done by the Ubuntu Touch developers in preparation for the soon-to-be-released OTA-7 software update for the mobile OS.
According to Mr. Zemczak, the day of October 7, 2015, brought the final freeze stage, which means that the Ubuntu Touch developers will no longer be able to land any new features, but only to patch critical issues that will come out from the upcoming QA testing.
They also managed to fix the regression with the UI Toolkit (UITK) header about which we talked yesterday, as well as to address many of those annoying bugs reported by Ubuntu Phone users lately. Moreover, the manual translations received some attention too.
"Final freeze for OTA-7 is now in effect. That being said, QA still had to sign off some critical blocking silos today as those didn't land before the deadline," says Łukasz Zemczak. "The final release date for all supported devices is planned for the 19th of October."
The first Release Candidate (RC) of Ubuntu Touch OTA-7 will be built very soon, and the final release is expected on the day of October 19, 2015, for all Ubuntu Phone users, which means that both BQ and Meizu owners will get the software update at the same time, if everything goes according to plan.
