It will fix all the issues from the OTA-5 update

After the successful launch of the OTA-5 update for the Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system, Canonical's Łukasz Zemczak has sent in his daily report to inform us all about the planning of the next major update for Ubuntu Touch, OTA-6.

According to Mr. Zemczak, the Ubuntu Touch OTA-6 software update will be released in approximately 6 weeks from the moment of writing this article and will contain fixes for all the issues that were not patched in the OTA-5 update released earlier today.

The Ubuntu Touch team at Canonical decided some time ago that a normal OTA (Over the Air) update should have a 4-week cadence, which would deliver monthly, regular updates to Ubuntu phone users. Unfortunately, it looks like they now need more time to drop a proper release of Ubuntu Touch.

"Next OTA is planned in 6 weeks. Yes, 6 weeks, not 4 - the product team, basing on the experience from all the previous milestones, decided that a 4 week cadence usually not enough to keep the velocity of changes high enough in par with quality," says Łukasz Zemczak.

The OTA-6 update will have properly working translations

Apparently, there are a lot of known issues that remain unpatched at the launch of the OTA-5 update, so the Ubuntu Touch team promises to squash as many bugs as they can in the 6-week development cycle period for the OTA-6 software update, which will have properly working translations.

Last but not least, Łukasz Zemczak informs all users of the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition smartphone that the OTA-5 re-spin disables the rc-proposed builds and that a new image will be launched soon and daily builds will be available again. We will keep you informed as soon as we have further details about the subject.
