Canonical's Alejandro J. Cura has sent in his report on the work done by the Ubuntu Touch team in the first two weeks of the month of July 2015, informing us all about the new features implemented in the forthcoming OTA-5 update.

According to Mr. Cura, the Ubuntu Touch team has managed to implement support for refunds of purchased apps bought via the Ubuntu Store Scope in the OTA-5 update that will land on Monday, July 20, 2015.

Thanks to the new "Refunds of Purchased Apps" feature, users will be able to get their money back for Ubuntu Touch apps, but only in the first 15 minutes from the purchase. Otherwise, they will have to contact the developer of the respective app for refunds.

Moreover, Alejandro J. Cura reports that the OTA-5 update for Ubuntu Touch brings support for WPA Enterprise in the network indicator, and that the nasty bug that caused constant 50% CPU usage after uninstalling a Scope has been fixed.

"The past two weeks have been about fixes and landings for OTA-5, and with planning and starting with new features for OTA-6," says Alejandro J. Cura. "I'll be away next week, but I know y'all will keep up the great work!"

The new Thumbnailer will land in OTA-6

At the moment, the Ubuntu Touch team is still working on the new Thumbnailer, which will land in the next major update, OTA-6, for which planning has already started. Fixes for the Telegram app will also be present in the Ubuntu Touch OTA-6 update.

Lastly, a lot of work has been done for the Snappy Scope, as Mr. Cura reports that it has been packaged as a DEB binary file for usage in the Ubuntu Personal image, and that support for translations has been added as well.
