14 DAY TRIAL // The development cycle of the next major OTA update for Ubuntu Phone and Ubuntu Tablet devices continues at a slow pace, as the Ubuntu Touch devs have just announced that it is not even ready for an RC image.
Łukasz Zemczak informs the Ubuntu Touch community today, May 11, 2016, about the fact that the promised Release Candidate (RC) image for the upcoming OTA-11 software update might be pushed to public testers by the end of the week, but because things are moving so slow, the final release will be delayed by a week.
"OTA-11 still not ready for an rc, but all the required fixes are staged in silos so we might expect to be good for a release candidate spin tomorrow," said Łukasz Zemczak. "Bad news is all this might also impact the release date, possibly by a week. Well, sometimes issues like this cannot be easily avoided."
OTA-11 is expected in the first week of June
While there's no release date set for the Ubuntu Touch OTA-11 update, which was supposed to hit the streets at the end of May, today's delay will push it to the first week of June. As expected, the OTA-11 will be available for all supported Ubuntu Phone smartphones, as well as for the new Ubuntu Tablet, the BQ Aquaris M10, which should arrive soon for an in-depth review.
In the meantime, it looks like the Ubuntu Touch developers will soon start landing new features and bugfixes to the devel channels for the next major OTA update, the OTA-12. Also, today they promoted all the OTA-10.1 emulator images to the stable channels.
