Łukasz Zemczak of Canonical has sent in his daily email report today, February 15, 2016, informing us all about the latest work done in the Ubuntu Touch world in preparation for the upcoming OTA updates and devices.

According to Mr. Zemczak, this week is a very busy one for the Ubuntu Touch developers, as they are working hard on the enablement of the upcoming Ubuntu Tablet, the BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition, the soon-to-be-released OTA-9.1 hotfix, which promises to fix the infamous incoming calls issue, and the major OTA-10 update.

"Right now we are re-spinning the first OTA-9.1 candidate image as the previous one had some issues due to a missing qtubuntu no-change rebuilt package - if everything goes well this will be the first candidate to go into QA testing. The release is planned approximately for mid next week," says Łukasz Zemczak, Canonical Foundations Team.

OTA-9.1 lands next week, OTA-10 gets plenty of goodies

While the OTA-9.1 hotfix will arrive sometime in the first days of the next week, the Ubuntu Touch developers have landed plenty of goodies into the rc-proposed channels for the upcoming OTA-10 massive update for Ubuntu Phones and Tablets during the day of February 15, 2016.

Among the most interesting stuff, we can mention a big Unity 8 update with convergence changes, a new Web Browser app with a ton of bugfixes and improvements, an updated Indicator Sound, a new Address Book app, an improved Indicator Network, along with libofono library, and qtbase with networking fixes.

On the other hand, the migration to the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) branch remains on hold for now. Tomorrow or in the next few days, the Ubuntu Touch team will try to promote new devel images for those who want to help with the testing of the OTA updates.
