14 DAY TRIAL // On February 3, 2016, Canonical's Łukasz Zemczak sent his daily report to inform all Ubuntu Phone users about the latest work done by the Ubuntu Touch development team on the upcoming OTA-9.5 hotfix.
According to Mr. Zemczak, work on the Ubuntu Touch OTA-9.5 software update for Ubuntu Phone devices continues, and today the devs have managed to upload a new version of the Oxide-Qt video player, patching a security issue, as well as to upload the regular language packs updates. Other than that, they are now waiting for a patch for the Mir display server and compositor.
"OTA-9.5 work still in progress. We are still waiting for the fix for mir and the compositor related to the bug when the phone sometimes becomes unusable when a call comes in. We hope to have something later this week," said Łukasz Zemczak, Ubuntu Foundations.
The custom bq-aquaris.en tarball for mako has been updated
As reported in yesterday's story, the Ubuntu Touch development team laid down plans for updating the custom bq-aquaris.en tarball for mako (Nexus 4), which currently lies on the rc-proposed channel. Today, the tarball has been slightly updated and it is the same as the ones shipped for other BQ specific Ubuntu Phone devices, such as BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition or BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition.
As promised, when the custom tarball for mako devices is completely updated, the Ubuntu Touch devs will be moving it to a new channel, specially created for these devices. As a consequence, Nexus 4 users will no longer get outdated applications when updating their Ubuntu Phone devices.
