Canonical has just announced the release of the Final Beta build for its upcoming Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system, so Martin Wimpress has been quick to announce that Ubuntu MATE 15.10 Beta 2 is now available for download and testing.

According to the comprehensive release notes, the second and last Beta build of the Ubuntu MATE 15.10 distribution is now powered by Linux kernel 4.2.1 and has been fully migrated to the MATE 1.10 desktop environment, which means that the Atril document viewer now supports EPub files, and the MATE Sensors applet has been updated with support for Nvidia GPUs (Graphics Processing Units).

The Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client now includes the Lightning Calendar plugin with support for Google Calendar, there's now a new wallpaper called "Keep Calm," the Blueman utility has been updated to version 2.0, based on BlueZ 5.34, a release that adds dozens of Bluetooth improvements and fixes.

Ubuntu MATE Welcome has received the most attention

Ubuntu MATE 15.10 Beta 2 comes with an updated Ubuntu MATE Welcome tool, which is now at version 1.0.3.3 and adds support for the Asunder, Filezilla, Iced Tea (Java) browser plugin, Pulse Audio Volume Control, Rapid Photo Downloader, and SuperTuxKart apps, and highlights the Software button.

Moreover, Ubuntu MATE Welcome 1.0.3.3 updates the GIMP's description to inform users that the CMYK plugins are now included, and the category under which the tool is listed has been corrected. Last but not least, a crash in the Marco window manager has been addressed, the python-caja package has been fixed, and the Plank 0.10 and Galculator 2.14 apps have been included.
