Canonical, through April Wang, has had the great pleasure of announcing the winners of the "And your Dream come true" innovation contest for its Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system created in collaboration with China Mobile.

China Mobile and Canonical's Ubuntu developer contest took place over a period of six months, during which aspiring application developers had to create the most awesome apps for Ubuntu for phones. Besides the regular contest, there were also online and offline training sessions carried out by Canonical, where attendees had the possibility of learning new things about its mobile OS.

The "And your Dream come true" innovation contest was addressed to the open-source community in China, independent developers, as well as University students. Canonical and China Mobile awarded the winners with prizes ranging from mobile devices to an internship opportunity with Canonical, and over 70,000RMB ($10,000) in cash.

"In addition to the contest itself, a host of online and offline training sessions were carried out. A series of face-to-face training sessions were conducted by Canonical to educate participants on the Ubuntu Phone OS, provide hands-on demos and tutelage on how to develop for Ubuntu Phones," wrote April Wang. "Another real highlight of this contest was the launch of the first Ubuntu Phone hackathon in China."
