14 DAY TRIAL // A few days after releasing a new build of his ExLight Linux distribution, developer Arne Exton is now informing us on the availability of a new release that uses the latest Enlightenment release.
ExLight Build 171121 replaces last week's Build 171112, which used the older Enlightenment 0.20 desktop from the Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) software repositories, to update Enlightenment to the latest 0.22 release that the developer compiled from sources. This makes ExLight one of few distros to use Enlightenment 0.22.
"Version 171112 uses Enlightenment 0.20 installed from Ubuntu’s repositories. Build 171121 of ExLight uses Enlightenment 0.22 installed by me from source," said the developer in the release announcement. "Only two Linux distributions in the whole wide world (besides ExLight) use Enlightenment 0.22 as desktop environment."

The other two distros that use Enlightenment 0.22 are ALT Linux and SparkyLinux. To be able to install Enlightenment 0.22 from sources, the developer had to install a bunch of other packages, which made the ISO image quite bigger compared to the previous release. An increase of approximately 300MB, from 1210 MB to 1560 MB.
The ExLight Build 171112 release is still available for download as the developer says it's more stable than Build 171121 because it's mostly based on Ubuntu 17.10, not Debian Testing (Buster). You can grab both releases right now from our website if you want to take them for a test drive, especially the one with Enlightenment 0.22.
To find out what packages have been included in ExLight Build 171121, you'll have to study the list of installed packages. If you're using ExLight Build 171112 on your PC, you'll have to reinstall or upgrade using the new ExLight Build 171121 ISO image.
