Still supported on 64- and 32-bit computers

Now that the upcoming Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) operating system is officially open for development, the first daily build ISO images have been published in the usual places for early adopters and public testers.

After the talk earlier in the year about Canonical planning to deprecate the 32-bit ISO images of the Ubuntu Linux operating system, it looks like these first daily builds of Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) published today, October 26, 2016, are available for both 64-bit and 32-bit computers.

However, you shouldn't expect anything at this very early stage of development, as these images are practically those of Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) with a minor "Ubuntu 17.04" rebranding for the installer, because that's how a new development cycle of a major Ubuntu release always begins (see screenshots below for details).

Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) launches in April 2017

Probably many of you know already that we're always covering the entire development cycle of a new Ubuntu release so we can keep you guys up to date with all the changes, new features, etc. As such, today we invite early adopters to download the first Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) ISO images and take them for a test drive.

Unfortunately, a release schedule is not available at the moment of writing this article, but the final release of Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) is expected at the end of April 2017. As usual, the development cycle will produce two Alpha and one Beta milestone for the opt-in flavors, and a Final Beta release for all Ubuntu editions.

Ubuntu 17.04 will be a standard version with nine months of support, until July 2018, so we don't expect to see any significant changes. Most probably, Canonical will advance the development of the next-generation Unity 8 user interface for desktops and bring us up-to-date software components and open source applications.
