14 DAY TRIAL // We wrote just a few days ago about a Ubuntu 16.04 Stupendously Hot Charmander concept and a lot of people liked it. Because it's the work of someone from the community, it's unlikely that it will be become more than just that, a concept, but it seems to have taken a life of its own.
Linux systems don't get a lot of concept work. When designers or developers want something, they just do it. Linux operating systems are very flexible, and you can do pretty much what you want with them. It's not like Windows or Mac OS which doesn't really let users mess with the themes. And we're not even mentioning overall desktop design. The bottom line is that there aren't any Linux concepts because ideas usually turn into reality.
This is also the reason why the Ubuntu 16.04 Stupendously Hot Charmander concept made such a big impact. A lot of people like it, but there were a few who didn't really enjoy the flatness or the fact that the regular Ubuntu stuff, like icons, for example, weren't included. In any case, the overall feeling was that the concept has a lot to promise and it looks like it's coming to life.
Ubuntu 16.04 Stupendously Hot Charmander concept might become real
We very rarely see a concept coming to life, but there is always hope. At best, we can expect to see designers take inspiration from such concepts, and the ones working for Canonical aren't immune to good work. In the case of the Ubuntu 16.04 Stupendously Hot Charmander concept, a member of the community started a GitHub project the second day, and it looks like he already got some work done, albeit it's preliminary.
It will take some time until we see something close to what the concept is proposing, but just the fact that there is already someone working on it should be proof enough the community really like it. You can get the source package from GitHub and install it by placing the files in the .theme folder. Activate the theme with the app of your choice. We used Unity Tweak.
