14 DAY TRIAL // Canonical has started seeding the RC (Release Candidate) ISO images of the anticipated Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system to testers worldwide to hunt down the last remaining bugs for the October 22 release.
Ubuntu 15.10 is currently in the Final Freeze stage of development, which means that the OS will not get any new features and updates, except for fixes for critical security vulnerabilities and major bugs that might be discovered during the testing period of the Release Candidate images.
The RC images of all Ubuntu 15.10 flavors, including Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Core, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Studio, and Xubuntu, have been uploaded to Canonical's ISO tracker for both 64-bit (am64) and 32-bit (i386) hardware architectures, as well as PPC for Lubuntu and Ubuntu MATE.
"I'm kicking off builds of all flavours for 'RC'(ish) images to the Wily Final milestone on the tracker," says Adam Conrad. "The more bugs we hunt down with this set, the more we can get fixed on or by Monday, and the fewer respins and less panic we have between now and Thursday, so please get to testing!"
The most bugs have been reported for Lubuntu and Xubuntu
Looking at the ISO tracker for Wily Werewolf Final (Release Candidate) images, we can notice that the most bugs have been reported for the Lubuntu and Xubuntu Linux distributions, some of them being related to the installer, but also to various core components and applications.
As mentioned, the purposes of the Release Candidate images is to hunt down the last remaining bugs in the Ubuntu 15.10 distributions, so if you want to help with the testing, go ahead and download the ISOs and report any issues you might find. The final release of the Wily Werewolf series will be unleashed worldwide on October 22, 2015.
