Just a few minutes ago, Canonical started uploading the Beta 2 builds for the Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) development cycle, the next major release of the world's most popular free operating system.

Therefore, the Final Beta of Ubuntu 15.10 and Beta 2 builds of the opt-in flavors, including Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu Server, and Ubuntu Cloud were made available for download and testing (see download links at the end of the article).

All of these Ubuntu 15.10 flavors received new ISO builds, which contain all the updated packages and security fixes from the upstream Ubuntu Linux software repositories as of September 24, 2015. We will have detailed articles about each and every one of them right here on Softpedia Linux in coming hours.

Here's what is new in Ubuntu 15.10 Beta 2 for opt-in flavors

We've written in-depth articles for each Ubuntu flavor that has been released as part of the Final Beta (Beta 2) release of Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf), but to summarize their features, we can tell you that all of them are powered by Linux kernel 4.2.1.

Kubuntu ships with KDE Plasma 5.4.1 and KDE Applications 15.08.1, Ubuntu MATE is now based on MATE 1.10, Ubuntu GNOME includes most of GNOME 3.16, Ubuntu Kylin updates many core components, Lubuntu remains based on LXDE, and Xubuntu replaces Abiword and Gnumeric with LibreOffice Writer and Calc.

Of course, you should also read our comprehensive article about the new features implemented in Ubuntu 15.10 Final Beta (Wily Werewolf). As usual, you can download Ubuntu 15.10 Final Beta, Kubuntu 15.10 Beta 2, Xubuntu 15.10 Beta 2, Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 Beta 2, Ubuntu MATE 15.10 Beta 2, Ubuntu Kylin 15.10 Beta 2, Lubuntu 15.10 Beta 2, Ubuntu Studio 15.10 Beta 2, and Ubuntu Cloud 15.10 Beta 2 right now from Softpedia. However, please try to keep in mind that these are all pre-release versions and are not suitable for deployment on production machines.
