Twitter's CEO Jack Dorsey once more addressed Donald Trump's presence on the platform and the many issues this fact has caused. Dorsey remains of the opinion that it's important for Trump to keep tweeting, and not just for the platform's sake, but for accountability's sake.

This isn't the first time Dorsey has talked about this. In fact, he was once asked whether Trump's account could get banned for breaking platform policies and he said then that it was quite important for Trump's tweets, as well as any other politicians', to be seen. In a way, they serve as proof for things they've said and stances they've taken on a multitude of issues that may concern the citizens. The fact that they create a lot of conversation on Twitter wasn't mentioned.

"It's really important to hold them accountable. And I believe it's really important to have these conversations out in the open, rather than have them behind closed doors," Dorsey said in an interview with Willie Geist, host of NBC's Sunday Today show. While the show is scheduled to air this weekend, a snippet of their conversation was already released.

Dorsey has a point

Donald Trump has been known to write some rather controversial tweets, leaving many bewildered. Messages posted at various intervals indicate 180-degree changes in opinion, something that has been talked about quite a bit. That, however, is exactly the point Dorsey was making when he said tweets could be used for accountability. In the end, while Trump may be breaking some platform rules here and there, it's important to know what he's saying.

"So if we're all to suddenly take these platforms away, where does it go? What happens? It goes in the dark. And I just don't think that's good for anyone," Dorsey adds.
