14 DAY TRIAL // Twitter has just announced that a new feature for its mobile and desktop application, which is supposed to offer “the best of Twitter in an instant.”
“Moments helps you find the best of Twitter as easily as tapping an icon – regardless of who you follow. Just visit the new tab called Moments, where you will discover stories unfolding on Twitter,” explains Twitter in a blog post.
But what exactly is Moments and how is it working for Twitter users? According to developers, Twitter users will now be given the option to tap on the new lightning bolt tab on their smartphones to open a list of Moments that matter now.
As soon as new stories pop up throughout the day, Twitter will continue to update the list of Moments. Users who want even more Moments can also swipe through to topics including “Entertainment” and “Sports” to find more stories from the past couple of days.
Moments is available for desktop users too
Keep in mind that, once you click into a Moment, you will be taken to an introduction with a title and description. You will be able to start swiping to dive right into the story, with immersive images and autoplaying videos, Vines, and GIFs.
Twitter also states that a single tap will provide users with a fuller view of the tweet, which then can be favorited, retweeted, and more. Also, a double tap allows users to instantly favorite the tweet.
Swiping up or down dismisses the Moment and takes users back to the guide, while the progress bar at the bottom should indicate how much more each Moment has to offer.
Last but not least, at the end of a Moment, users will be able to click the share button to tweet their thoughts, and send it out to their followers.
The new Moments feature is available to all Android and iOS users in North America. It's also worth mentioning Moments is now being rolled out in stages, so it might take a while until it reaches all users in this region.
