Twitter devs didn't wait long to get on the Windows 10 bandwagon, and on the same day the operating system was released to the public, they already launched a native Windows 10 Twitter client of their own.
The app is coded on Microsoft's Universal Windows Platform, meaning that it will run on PCs and tablets, and was designed to work even for users who don't have a Twitter account, showing popular tweets, videos, and photos, both in the app's window and in the start menu's live tiles.
The app works even for logged-off users
When logged in, all the regular functionality of tweeting, answering DMs, checking notifications, and searching Twitter for new content, is (of course) included.
Other features include support for animated GIFs and the ability to upload up to four photos at once with every new tweet, something that can be used to create nice-looking photo grids within your tweets.
Additionally, the app also brings support for easy playback of Vine videos, previewing photos and Vines on their home timeline, and live tiles, as we mentioned above.
Not everything is up to par, unfortunately
While the live tile updates can prove pretty useful, saving users time from opening the app's window, a browser, or a mobile app, there are some more recent features missing from the Windows 10 app.
We are referring to the tweet quoting feature present on the main site, which is lacking in the app, greatly reducing the @reply experience for users who utilize Twitter to engage with others more than to follow news sources.
But considering that GIF previews have been introduced fairly recently on Twitter's main service, after the tweet quoting feature, it may be a problem of smoothing out some bugs and not a general design flaw, and the full @reply experience should be supported in future versions.
